Thankfully, the embarrassment this brings is finally over, as Sony now lets you change your PSN Online ID.

PlayStation has warned that some games may not be compatible with your change of name.

While the ‘large majority’ of PS4 games will accept the name change, Sony warned that some games published before 1st April 2018 will not be compatible.

Games that players may experience issues on include Killzone Shadow Fall, Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag, The Last of Us, Titanfall 2, Warframe and PlayStation VR Worlds. You can view the full list here .

How to change your PSN Online ID

If you want to change your PSN Online ID, you can do this on either a PC or a PS4.

On PlayStation 4, go to Settings > Account Management > Account Information > Profile > Online ID.

On PC, simply sign in via the PlayStation website and click the edit button next to your PSN Profile in the menu.

However there are a few caveats to keep in mind.

While your first name change is free, you’ll have to pay £8/change from then. However, you can revert to a previous name for free. Child accounts also cannot be changed.
