Claudia Winkleman credits her fringe for starting her career and claims she is hiding a "massive forehead" under her tresses.

The 50 -year old TV star is known for her shiny dark locks and signature fringe, and she has admitted things only started happening for her when she had the famous do chopped in, noting that she was "21 and a virgin" beforehand.

She said: "People ask what I am hiding with my fringe — and it’s a massive forehead that is repellent. I was born with six extra teeth like a little dinosaur. When people saw me smile they screamed. But when I was 21 and a virgin, I got my fringe and everything started happening."

The 'Strictly Come Dancing' presenter- who began appearing on BBC series 'Holiday' in her early 20s before going on to interview celebrities on 'This Morning' - is also known for using fake tan for her on-screen appearances, and admitted she is "addicted" to the bronzing product because she "never leaves the house" to get a natural tan.

She said: "I have always been addicted to fake tan. I like being orange, I think it is because I was born in 1972, I am an eighties kid so everything was like ultra glow.

"Everything was about being bronze and I don’t go in the sun ever. I never leave my house, but I like being orange."

The TV favourite - who co-hosts the BBC ballroom show alongside longstanding presenter Tess Daly - also revealed her outfit choices on 'Strictly' are often inspired by other celebrities, such as 'EastEnders' stars Pam St. Clement and Anita Dobson, as well as reality stars Rob Kardashian and Sharon Osbourne.

Speaking on her 'Behind The Fringe' UK tour in Guildford, she said: "At 'Strictly', I have never told anybody this, we always base my outfits on a different theme. It could be a person, it could be a place. One year I was Andre Agassi when I had long bits in my hair and we put turf in my dressing room. I have done Pam St Clement, Slash from Guns n Roses, I had a Joan Rivers moment, Sharon Osbourne, Anita Dobson, Rob Kardashian, Elton John, Mr. Darcy from 'Pride and Prejudice'."
