The Britain's Got Talent host issued a grovelling apology for his boozed-up actions through his legal team, telling the district judge he was struggling with his split from estranged wife Lisa Armstrong.

In a statement to police, Ant said: "I'm very sorry I did this. I'm ashamed and mortified that this happened."

He added: "Anthony McPartlin is sorry. He is doing everything he can so this never happens again. He hopes that in time he can make himself better and he might be forgiven by all the people he feels he has let down so terribly."

Christine moved into Ant's rental property in Chiswick, west London, after he moved out of the nearby marital home he shared with Lisa.

It's expected that Ant will be sentenced today after issuing his guilty plea within two minutes of the start of the hearing.

His estranged wife Lisa, who works as a makeup artist on shows including BGT and Strictly Come Dancing, is yet to break her silence.
