Trump confident of 'terrific relationship' with Kim Jong-un after one-on-one  

US President Donald Trump has said that he has an "excellent relationship" with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, after the two met at their historic summit in Singapore. Trump also said that his one-on-one meeting with Kim was "very, very good". (Associated Press) North Korea's state media has described the talks as part of a "changed era" - the secretive state's first comment on the momentous summit. (Sky News) Meanwhile, Dennis Rodman, the former NBA star and longtime friend of Kim Jong-un who has visited North Korea several times, broke down in tears during a televised interview, praising Trump for the meeting. May warns MPs not to back amendments to Brexit legislation 

Prime Minister Theresa May has warned Tory MPs not to back amendments to Brexit legislation made by the Lords. She told a meeting of the backbench 1922 committee on Monday to consider the message that would be sent to Brussels if the government was defeated. “I am trying to negotiate the best deal for Britain. I am confident I can get a deal that allows us to strike our own trade deals while having a border with the EU which is as frictionless as possible,” she said. (Evening Standard)

Former EastEnders actor Leslie Grantham 'fighting for life'

EastEnders star Leslie Grantham who played “Dirty” Den in the soap is fighting for his life, it has been reported. The legendary actor, 71, is “very poorly”, his representative told The Sun on Monday. He returned to the UK from Bulgaria where he has been living for a number of years under the care of doctors. The London-born actor has been secretly visited by close friends who now fear the worst. (Evening Standard)

Collapse of Poundworld puts 5,100 jobs at risk

Thousands of shop staff faced the axe yesterday following the collapse of Poundworld, one of Britain's largest discount chains. On another bleak day for the High Street, the loss-making store was the latest to crash into administration, putting 5,100 jobs at risk. The company, which has 335 shops and sells everything from flip-flops to deodorant and baked beans, racked up losses of £17.1million last year. More than 30,000 High Street jobs have been lost or left hanging in the balance this year as a string of shops and restaurants struggle to survive. (Daily Mail)

Video of the day: A rare birth - first in 100 years

On June 6, 2018, a rare birth was celebrated at the Iberá National Park in Argentina. Tania, a three-legged, first-time mother jaguar, gave birth to two cubs – the first in over a century. She was brought from a zoo to the CLT Argentina Jaguar Reintroduction Program along with Chiqui, the cubs' father, that came from a rescue center. Scientists say this birth is a big deal for the species: the last estimate placed the population at 200 in Argentina. (National Geographic)
