Nearly 30 school children have been injured after two double decker school buses crashed into each other in Northamptonshire.

Northamptonshire police say 27 children sustained minor injuries after a crash between Rothwell and Desborough.

Eight of these children were taken to hospital by ambulance and four were taken with their parents.

The rest of the injured children have been discharged home from the scene, police say, and one of the bus drivers was taken to hospital.

Following the crash, roads were closed off while recovery and repairs to the highway were carried out.

The police are appealing for witnesses to the dramatic crash, asking for any witnesses to the incident or anyone with dashcam footage to call Northampton Police on 101.
