The UK is facing the most serious economic situation in recent memory, says Sturgeon
Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon expressed her fears about the current financial crisis following the Chancellor's mini-budget on Friday, suggesting it could be the most "serious economic situation" in recent UK history. The Bank of England was forced to step in on Wednesday, announcing plans to buy government bonds in a bid to avoid what it called a “material risk to UK financial stability”. Speaking to the Conveners’ Group at the Scottish Parliament, Nicola Sturgeon said it would be “normal people” who would bear the brunt of the country’s financial woes.
