Mali hopes to cotton on to added value

Mali has reclaimed its place as the leading African country in terms of cotton production. The product makes up almost a quarter of Mali's exports, and some 40% of the income of the rural population. But very little of Mali's cotton is processed in Mali for further use, a tendency that some view as a problem.
