Air raid alarms sounded in Gaza Strip and Israel
The 'Iron Dome' system was activated Friday after alarms were sounded in Yavne, Ascalon and other southern Israeli cities, as well as inside the Gaza Strip, after Israeli authorities announced a military operation against Islamic Jihad in the area.
At the moment, there is no immediate confirmation from the Israel Defense Forces as to how many rockets have been launched from the Gaza Strip and whether they have been intercepted, the daily 'Haaretz' reported.
Meanwhile, Israeli fighter jets have attacked new points in the Gaza Strip, while the anti-aircraft alarm has also sounded, as reported by 'The Times of Gaza' on its official Twitter profile.
"IDF aircraft recently struck two weapons storage warehouses and another rocket launching post of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorist organization," Israeli security forces have indicated on their official Twitter profile.
In the face of rising tensions, a spokesman for the White House National Security Council has pointed out, as reported by the newspaper 'The Times of Israel', that "Israel has the right to protect itself". He also urged the parties to "remain calm" and pointed out that Washington is "monitoring" the situation.
