The President of the United States and the First Lady have arrived at Clarence House for tea with Prince Charles.

The world leader will attend a Nato summit, meet Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Queen during the whirlwind three-day stay. 

Mr Trump arrived at Stansted Airport in Essex last night ahead of the meetings.

His arrival on British soil marks his third visit to the UK since taking office.

The American president today batted away Labour's claims that the US wants to put the NHS on the table in bilateral trade talks ahead of Brexit .

Asked if the NHS should be on the table in trade negotiations, Mr Trump said: “We have absolutely nothing to do with it and we wouldn’t want to if you handed it to us on a silver platter, we want nothing to do with it.”

His comments were met with scepticism, as commentators pointed out the influence of private healthy lobbying in the important trade talks.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn will see Mr Trump at tonight’s NATO reception despite refusing to attend a lavish banquet in Trump’s honour in June.

If the pair meet, Mr Corbyn has said he welcomed the leader to the UK but would ask for specific assurances on the boundaries of a post-Brexit trade deal with the US, saying he would tell him all public services are off the negotiating table.

The American President used a visit to London to insist he did not want to prey on our treasured health service.

But just six months earlier he boasted that “everything is on the table”, including healthcare, during post-Brexit trade talks.

Mr Trump’s latest intervention came as he took questions before meeting Mr Stoltenberg.

He said the US would be taxing wine from France as he attacked the French President's 'dangerous and insulting' claim that the NATO military alliance is "brain-dead".
