Madonna has become the highest-grossing solo touring artist of all time.

The Queen of Pop, who has just come to the end of her Rebel Heart Tour, has made a staggering $1.31 billion from touring during her career.

She made $169.8 million from her latest tour, which was plagued with controversy thanks to late starts and on-stage antics.

Madonna has now surpassed Bruce Springsteen, who has grossed $1.25 billion through touring throughout his career, according to Billboard.

The only acts to have made more than Madonna on tour are The Rolling Stones and who have totalled $1.84 billion and U2 who have made $1.67 billion.

Billboard reports: “Based on Billboard’s Boxscore archives that stretch back to 1990, her overall concert grosses reached $1.31 billion with the tour’s final show.

“The Rebel Heart trek grossed $169.8 million from 1,045,479 tickets sold at 82 performances.”

Madonna is also the only woman to have surpassed the £1 billion mark and is one of only six artists on the world to have done so.

The star, who has been embroiled in a custody battle with ex-husband Guy Richie over son Rocco, caused controversy when she exposed a 17-year-old girl’s nipple on stage last week.
