Myanmar: soldiers take to the streets in Yangon and Naypyitaw

Myanmar's de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior figures from the ruling party have been detained by the military in an early morning raid. The move came after days of escalating tension between the civilian government and the powerful army that stirred fears of a coup in the aftermath of an election the army says was fraudulent. Soldiers were on the street in Yangon and the capital Naypyidaw and state television had lost signal.
