Nadhim Zahawi confirms contingency plans are in place in the event of strike action

It is unfair for unions to "disrupt people's lives" with public-sector strikes at Christmas, Conservative chairman Nadhim Zahawi has said. He told the BBC the Government had contingency plans to minimise disruption from industrial action. The military could be drafted in to drive ambulances and secure the country's borders, Mr Zahawi said. Thousands of workers from various industries are set to strike this month in disputes over pay and conditions.
