One of Las Vegas' illustrious venues will host the fight if it gets the go-ahead, with McGregor reportedly signing a blockbuster deal over the last few days. Fans now await Mayweather's response, with the unbeaten pugilist remaining tight lipped on the subject this week.

However, McGregor has stepped up his preparation for Mayweather by applying for a boxing licence, with ESPN reporting that the UFC champion submitted his paperwork on Thursday.

According to ESPN, McGregor's application was incomplete due to some missing documents but that is expected to be cleared up imminently. The executive director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission told ESPN that he expected the fight to be sanctioned once the two fighters agree terms.
