Galatasaray have reportedly started negotiations with Aston Villa over a move for Trezeguet.

According to Fanatik, the winger's transfer is on the agenda having previously been linked with the Turkish club.

It remains unclear whether Galatasary want to make the Egyptian international's switch a permanent deal or a loan, but he remains on the fringes of Steven Gerrard's squad.

And that has sparked further speculation about his future with Fanatik reporting that talks have already opened.

Trezeguet has made 64 appearances, but has only made one appearance in the Premier League this season, and with the arrival of Philippe Coutinho, he is sure to slip further down the pecking order.

According to the reports, Galatasaray are in the process of raising funds to complete the deal and that could lead to his exit in a transfer that could go right to the wire.

Speaking about Trezeguet's future today, Villa head coach Gerrard said "Trezeguet's a unique situation," Gerrard said. "He's been out for seven months or roundabout. He's come back and has obviously had a short cameo and has gone to the African Cup of Nations.

"We hope he stays fit, healthy and plays well and we'll analyse that situation as the weeks go by.

"We've had a conversation in terms of what he needs next and he obviously needs game.

"He could find that challenging here so we'll be respectful to him and we'll see what lands from now until the end of the window but, as it stands now, he'll be returning after the AFCON."

Either way, the fans are preparing to wave goodbye to Trezeguet. Here's what they had to say.

Dave: "Gerrard really upping the standard at Villa. Getting rid of the fringe players & getting in quality. Changed times."

Mark Shaw: "Another player not good enough but always gave 100% and scored some valuable goals to keep us up .A good move for him if it happens."

BlakeAVFC2: "Top transfer window. Freeing up Wage budget, boosting our funds available and making more space for our youth to break through. Warra club."

Eddie: "Good move for him I think. Gave us some great moments but options will be limited at Villa moving forward."
