Leicester defender Caglar Soyuncu could return to his homeland this summer, with Galatasaray reportedly interested.

The Leicester Mercury cites Turkish outlet Ajanspor’s claim that the 23-year-old defender is a possible target for the Turkish side, who won the Super Lig last season.

Neither Claude Puel or Brendan Rodgers made Soyuncu a regular in the Leicester line-up last term, with the central defender making just six Premier League appearances.

It’s fair to say that the £19 million transfer from Freiburg has not worked out, and it now looks as though the Foxes could part ways with Soyuncu less than a year on from signing him.

That would be on a temporary basis, however, with the report stating that Foxes would be unlikely to move him on permanently just yet.

Soyuncu’s departure may depend on the future of Harry Maguire, with the Englishman still heavily linked with a big money move to Manchester United.

If Maguire was to leave, Leicester could decide to keep Soyuncu as cover, but the club are hoping to hold onto the 26-year-old, meaning opportunities for the Turk would be limited once again.

Meanwhile, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, who finished third and sixth in the Super Lig respectively, are also said to be considering making offers.
