Celtic squad revealed for Bayer Leverkusen as Stephen Welsh eases defensive woes after injury scare

Daily Record logo Daily Record 6 days ago Mark Pirie

Defender Stephen Welsh is set to be fit in time for Celtic's crucial Europa League clash with Bayer Leverkusen.

Ange Postecoglou 's side face the prospect of dropping into the Europa Conference League if a defeat to the Bundesliga side is coupled with a Real Betis win.

With the team short on defensive options, Welsh will be available for the tie after sustaining a facial knock against St Johnstone in the Premier Sports Cup semi-final.

Centre-back option Carl Starfelt also remains sidelines alongside Tom Rogic and Giorgos Giakoumakis.

Long-term absentee Christopher Jullien is back in training after recovering from a knee injury and is in the Europa League squad.

However, his Celtic first-team return in against Bayer remains unlikely.
