Jermain Defoe will have to wait for his Rangers debut after their Scottish Cup clash with Cowdenbeath was postponed just three hours before kickoff.

The Friday night fixture has been called off after Central Park failed a pitch inspection at 4:30PM.

The League Two side had put covers down on the park earlier this week with sub-zero temperatures forecast.

But Steven Gerrard's men will now have to make the trip to Fife to face the Blue Brazil on January 30 in the fourth round of the competition.

Gerrard meanwhile has rubbished reports that the club are interested in signing Ravel Morrison, the former Manchester United youngster.

Morrison sparked speculation over a move to Ibrox after he followed Gerrard and a host of Rangers players on Instagram.

But Gerrard has distanced himself from a move.

"There’s no truth in either,” he said, when asked about both Morrison and Liverpool's Adam Lallana.

However, Joe Worrell looks set to remain in Glasgow for the rest of the season.

"We've spoken to Nottingham Forest and I think in the deal they had up until January 7 to call Joe back and we never heard anything from it," he said.

"So Joe will remain here for the rest of the season.

"He's a player who's done really, really well for us. I thought he was excellent during the Old Firm so he'll be here for the remainder of the campaign."
