Aston Villa fan, president of the Football Association and one day heir to the throne Prince William has admitted that despite the public pressures on his own life - it was his beloved Villa who gave him one of his most 'stressful moments' before overwhelming him with pride.

The Prince spoke to the BBC earlier today about Villa's relegation run-in, where potential results conspired to tip against them on the final day of the season. Bournemouth broke down Everton to achieve victory, and despite Villa's best efforts Watford seemed determined enough to overwhelm Arsenal after going down early to a number of Gunners strikes.

However, everybody knows the result. Villa were able to stay up with a draw against West Ham United on the final day of the season - but it didn't always look nor feel like it was going to happen.

And the Duke of Cambridge admitted that Villa's Hammers clash was getting to him.

"The nerves were the worst I’ve ever known them," said Prince William to the BBC ahead of today's FA Cup final.

"My children looked at me in horror as I was jumping off the sofa screaming my head off."

The Prince was happy that in the situation he could save face - especially after the elation of Jack Grealish's potential West Ham winner was shot down by a deflected equaliser that came seconds later.

As Villa fans screamed in joy, many were quickly caught out by a dramatic fluky hit that threatened to condemn Villa to the drop - pending the result of Watford's clash with Arsenal.

Still, it turned out perfectly for William - and the entire Villans fanbase.

"It’s very good news that as president of the FA I can hide away in these moments and not be seen.

"It was one of the most stressful moments  of my life as I imagine every Villa fan felt on that day.

"I was very proud of what the club have done this year and I’m looking forward to next season."
