Former WWE champion Jack Swagger – real name Jake Hager – has become the latest man to switch from competing in the wrestling ring to fighting in the MMA.

Brock Lesnar, Phil Brooks (aka CM Punk) and Bobby Lashley are just three men who’ve made a switch from WWE to the world of MMA and Hager will become the latest.

He’s signed a deal with Bellator and will compete in their heavyweight division, with his first fight set to take place in 2018.

Despite spending years in the WWE, Hager has a legitimate wrestling background, which could stand him in good stead.

In 2006, he was an All-American in the 129kg weight class after setting a University of Oklahoma wrestling record by scoring 30 pins.

Aged 35, Hager left the WWE in March and after taking a well earned break, he’s decided to make a switch to compete at MMA.
