It may be the best part of 20 years since Hulk Hogan and the NWO caused mayhem in WCW, but the legend still believes they can make waves in WWE - at the expense of The Shield.

The 65-year-old is reportedly edging closer to an on-screen return with the company after WWE previously distanced themselves from him in the wake of allegations of Hogan using racist language in a recorded conversation.

But, weeks after being reinstated to the Hall of Fame, rumours of his comeback to the company's programming have escalated.

Hogan is already set to appear with his NWO brothers Scott Hall and Kevin Nash at a Q&A event in Orlando in October, leaving fans buzzing at the prospect of his imminent arrival on the likes of Monday Night Raw and Smackdown.

The icon behind Hulkamania and a multi-time WWE and WCW Champion, Hogan clearly still believes the trio are capable of making trouble for those in the WWE ranks.

In an interview with TMZ, Hogan was quizzed on the possibility of a confrontation between the NWO and The Shield - Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.

With possibly a hint of a wry smile, the veteran couldn't resist when replying: "We'd murder the bums, brother; we'd kill them!

"We laid the ground-rules for taking shortcuts... I wrestled with Roman Reigns' dad and you've seen pictures of me holding Roman as a baby.

"We taught them almost everything we know!"
