They met as kids riding on Dartmoor and have been going out a couple of years.

A source said: “This is the first time a couple have raced against each other at the festival. Races are always high-spirited but I imagine this one will be even more competitive.

"She only went public with him a few weeks ago. It will certainly add some spice to an already fascinating race.”

Bryony, whose dad Jimmy won the Grand National in 1989, is at 8/1 on Black Corton while Harry is at 11/1 on Elegant Escape.

Speaking recently, she said she and Harry have always enjoyed a competitive edge.

Telling of how they jumped from a cliff into a river once, she joked: “There’ve been many times I’ve nearly killed Harry.”

Bryony has had five wins at Cheltenham since turning pro in July last year but has yet to make her mark at the festival.

Thousands of race fans, including celebs, were at the festival yesterday on its soggiest start in 36 years.

More than 250,000 will visit over its four days and 28 races, and some £350million will be wagered.
