Former Celtic defender and Scottish international Jackie McNamara is predicting another impressive campaign for Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Speaking the Express, McNamara was positive about Celtic’s chances both domestically and in Europe.

The Hoops are by far favourites to win the Scottish Premiership once again this season, despite the reported title challenge that will be provided by Steven Gerrard’s Rangers.

With Celtic also in the Europa League this season, the former York City boss is tipping the Bhoys to impress after their exit from the Champions League.

“I think Rodgers has done an unbelievable job since he’s come to Celtic and I think they’ll win the league this year – no problem. I also think they can go and do well in the Europa League.”

Many have tipped to the Hoops to make a mark in the European competition, but Rodgers’ side have been given a tough draw.

McNamara enjoyed a ten-year stint at the club and he knows as well as anyone the demands and the pressure of playing for Celtic. He’s given his support to Rodgers, who has come in for criticism already this season.

“I don’t think he’s under pressure, but Rodgers will say you’re always under pressure as an Old Firm team. Steven Gerrrard will be the same, but that comes with the territory.”
