Craig Gordon has warned current Celtic and Scotland number one Scott Bain that he hasn’t given up on earning his spot back.

The 36-year old goalkeeper has lost his space as first-choice for both club and country to Bain in recent months, with the 27-year old Bain having kept 11 clean sheets in 15 games since replacing Gordon over the winter break.

Gordon meanwhile has been out injured in recent weeks, and hasn’t featured in the Hoops’ squad since their 2-0 win against Hibernian three weeks ago.

However, Gordon isn’t ready to concede his spot to Bain just yet. As reported on Sky Sports’ live coverage of Kazahkstan v Scotland, as cited by 67 Hail Hail, Gordon both praised and warned Bain, saying:

“He could play (Bain for Scotland) for many years to come.”

“Hopefully I might get back there yet. I’ve had a few injuries at the moment. But I can get back in there and challenge him at Celtic and possibly for that international spot as well.”
