Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has heaped praise on the club’s supporters following their 1-0 triumph against rivals Rangers, HITC report.

The left-back has been a regular under Brendan Rodgers over recent years and started the match last week, where Olivier Ntcham’s second half strike was enough to hand Steven Gerrard his first defeat as Rangers boss.

There were far less Rangers fans in the away end compared to last season, due to Celtic’s ticket allocation, and the Scottish international was full of praise for the Celtic Park faithful for the atmosphere they created during the match.

Talking to Celtic’s official website, Tierney was quick to talk about the fans, and dedicated the win to the supporters.

“You notice the difference with the atmosphere. You’re used to growing up and watching it on TV and it’s the same section every time. When it’s like that, though, it only helps us.”

“The atmosphere was brilliant, from the start right the way through to the end. The fans are always with you and that’s what you always need. It was a win for them as well.”

The Hoops are firm favourites to regain their Scottish Premiership title, however, Tierney and co currently sit three points behind Hearts after four games and will be looking to kick on after the international break following their derby day win.
