Player out of position; £36m-valued ace out: Jamie O'Hara names unusual Spurs defensive fix
Jamie O’Hara has named his very unusual ideal Tottenham Hotspur defence while speaking on talkSPORT.
The former Spurs central midfield player has claimed that the North London club should line up with Matt Doherty, Japhet Tanganga, Ben Davies and Sergio Reguilon as a back four.
Unusual Spurs defence
The fact that O’Hara has called for Ben Davies to play as a central defender straight away means that there would already be an unusual look to the back line.
Predominantly a left-back by trade, the former Swansea City man has only played as a centre-back a mere six times so far in the 2020/21 term, mostly in a back three.
Tanganga is also an unusual call given that he, along with Joe Rodon, has played in the fewest amount of games out of all the centre-halves for Jose Mourinho so far this season.
Having Doherty over Serge Aurier is also a debatable call given that the Ivory Coast international has averaged more tackles, clearances, shots, key passes, dribbles and crosses so far in this campaign than the former (Whoscored).
The likes of Davinson Sanchez, currently valued at £36m by Transfermarkt, Eric Dier and Toby Alderweireld also miss out in O’Hara’s ideal defence, in what is certainly a new take on the Lilywhites defensive options.
