Gray has been named in the squad for the first time in the tournament after recovering from a calf injury that kept him out of action for the start of the campaign.

Hardie has returned from a three-month suspension for alleged use of cocaine and is expected to be named in the starting lineup for Scotland’s crucial clash with Ireland.

Among the other additions are Magnus Bradbury and Darryl Marfo, while George Horne joins his brother Pete in the squad, earning his first senior call-up after 10 tries in 14 games for Glasgow this season.

Alex Dunbar, Zander Fagerson and Fraser Brown are also recalled after injury, while wing pair Byron McGuigan and Lee Jones also return to the squad after injuries.

Scotland are high in confidence at the moment after defeating England for the first time in ten years last week at Murrayfield and will be hoping to create a similar upset when they face high-flying Ireland this weekend at the Aviva Stadium.

Ireland are looking to win the Six Nations and are currently at the top of the standings but know that Scotland will create problems for them just as they did to England.
