Atletico Madrid were victorious in the Europa League Final as Antoine Griezmann starred to help seal a 3-0 win against Marseille in Lyon.

Atletico started Wednesday night's Final second best as Marseille pressed for the opening goal, but Valere Germain blasted over an easy chance after being sent through by Dimitri Payet after four minutes.

And Germain was left to rue that miss as Griezmann punished a terrible mistake by Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa to put Atleti in front not long after.

Worse was to come for Marseille as their star player Payet - who started the game despite a recent thigh injury - left the pitch in tears as the muscle problem ended his final after just 33 minutes.

Atletico took control after a throw-in inside Marseille's half and broke at goal with minimal defensive midfield resistance, allowing Koke time to slip a pass in behind the defence for Griezmann to run onto before finishing a delicate close-range lob over Mandanda.

Griezmann could be on his way to Barcelona this summer, but a star performance in Lyon and the Europa League trophy will serve as a perfect parting gift to Atletico fans.

But in their desperation to get back into the game, Marseille left gaps in defence - and Gabi ruthlessly finished after a fine Atletico move to wrap up the win, with Fernando Torres coming off the bench at the death in his final appearances for Los Rojiblancos.
