Boris Johnson visits flooded areas in Greater Manchester | Storm Christoph

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has pledged £20 million for flood defences in Manchester as he warned that there is more rain to come on a visit to the flood affected region. Vast swathes of Wales, the North and the Midlands have seen flooding overnight and Mr Johnson has flown north in a Royal Air Force helicopter to inspect the damage. As of midday, the Environment Agency has issued five 'severe' flood warnings, 179 flood warnings and 204 less severe flood alerts, while thousands of properties in Didsbury have been evacuated as a precaution.
