For the founder of travel blog God Save The Points is offering to give up all of his business or first class seats for a year – providing you spot him at the airport.

Taking a leaf out of Virgin founder Richard Branson’s book and penchant for an unusual stunt to drum up interest, Gilbert Ott has said he hopes the offer will bring in more readers, though admits some hesitancy at the prospect of giving up his ticket “on one of the countless 10+ hour flights I have upcoming.”

“With the volume I travel, there will be plenty of regular opportunity to quite literally “upgrade” yourself at my expense,” he added.

Ott will be jetsetting around the globe to Europe, the US and Asia over the next 12 months.

He said on his blog: "You may need a little bit of luck, but if you find me in an airport: check in counter, security lane, terminal, lounge, or even boarding gate, I’ll switch seats with you, provided we’re on the same flight. Yep, I’m flying to all these places in business or first class this year, and you can get upgraded- just for following this page.

To help potential seat swappers find him, Ott will be regularly updating a map of his travels on Twitter, and in the days before any flight will drop clues about where he is and where he’ll be going, along with which airline.

The traveller has upcoming flights with a host of airlines including American, British Airways, Japan Airlines, Delta, Alaska, Qatar, Lufthansa and Etihad.

He’s also posted a set of pictures of himself to help people spot him.

Frequent flier Ott has been a regular poster of fare hacks, and has also rounded up his picks of the best on-board bar lounges across airlines.
