After all, its glamorous islands boast picture-perfect beaches, luxury resorts, crystalline blue waters and seriously beautiful scenery.

However a rough hurricane season has seen the region's tourism industry take a hit - despite the fact that the majority of destinations were not hit too hard, if impacted at all.

The early months are the best time to visit the Caribbean if you want to make the most of the sunshine and balmy temperatures - and there are currently some great deals to be had.

In fact, TripAdvisor has revealed the best value Caribbean destinations for 2018, as well as the best time to go for the best deals.

Some of the biggest savings to be had include departure dates in late April, but it is worth noting that this is towards the end of the peak season so for top weather, you may want to consider going a little earlier.

We take a look at the beautiful islands that made the list and why they need to go on your radar if you're after a winter sun getaway.

1. Martinique

Not to mention the crystal-clear waters are ideal for a host of watersports such as snorkelling.

For those who are looking for ultimate relaxation, there's plenty on offer too. Think luxury resorts and spas that line the breathtaking beaches, as well as a host of local foodie delights.

2. Cuba

Capital city Havana offers up plenty of culture and heritage from the salsa bars to its eye-catching landmarks; there's so much to see and do in the city . Make sure to also stop off at one of its incredible rum bars .

Want an all-inclusive beach trip instead? Then the popular resort of Varadero can make a great alternative.

3. Curacao

The island is renowned for its breathtaking coral reefs home to a wide array of marine life, not to mention the beaches and coves waiting to be explored.

Meanwhile, history buffs can take a step back in time thanks to the host of colonial architecture which lines the streets. Or stop at the Kura Hulanda, a museum focusing on the history of the local slave trade.

4. Guadeloupe

6. Bonaire

10. St. Vincent and the Grenadines

15. St. Lucia

Explorers can also take in spectacular views of the island's twin volcanic peaks, the Gros and Petit Pitons, which are a World Heritage Site -take a boat tour around the island to get some of the best views.

16. St. Kitts and Nevis

Nevis is also a hit with the royals: Prince Harry and Princess Diana visited in 1993 and stayed at the Montpelier Plantation and Beach resort, while Harry returned as part of his royal tour of the Caribbean in 2016 on behalf of the Queen.
