The best value holiday destinations for 2019 have been revealed

Luckily, in the UK there's a myriad of culturally and historically fascinating countries right on our doorstep – but what about when we want to go further afield?

Experts at travel-booking site Skyscanner have found the best value destinations for 2019 after crunching through the figures of its extensive flight and hotel database.

The findings show there has been no better time to visit the Americas, with Cancun in Mexico and Los Angeles in the US being two of the best value destinations for the coming year.

Cancun, Mexico

Cancun has always been alluring to Brits – the white sand beaches, turquoise waters and promise of a good party, and next year it will be even more accessible from the UK. This is because Thomas Cook Airlines are expanding their service to Cancun with nine weekly flights from Manchester while Londoners can take advantage of low cost carrier Eurowings’ great deals. Once there, accommodation is cheap and the food even cheaper, making sure you get the most for your pound.

Low cost airline Norwegian flies straight from London Gatwick to Vegas making it easier than ever to experience the iconic strip for yourself – plus there are plenty of four-star hotels that start at £30 per person, per night making it a very affordable holiday… if you keep your gambling to a minimum, that is.

Known for its perennial sunshine, great surf and slew of residing A-Listers, Los Angeles has long been a bucket list locale for many. Norwegian offer another direct route stateside from London to Los Angeles where a return flight can set you back just £296. In 2019, Virgin Atlantic is launching a new route from Manchester to Los Angeles in May making California even more accessible to Brits. Reykjavic, Iceland

With the average flight and hotel prices decreasing significantly, 2019 is the time to visit Iceland’s capital Reykjavic and discover a city dotted with cool eateries and captivating art before exploring Icelandic must-dos like the Golden Circle and the Ring Road to see the iconic sights.

Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

Hotel prices are set to be 20 per cent cheaper and you can expect to see a drop in flight prices once Norwegian airlines launch its new direct route from London to Rio De Janeiro in spring 2019.
