Easyvoyage Logo By Hannah Smith of Easyvoyage | Slide 1 of 8: In all its glory, Strasbourg's Christmas market is both the most well-known and the most-visited in France. This city's Christmas market tradition dates back to the Middle Ages, making it one of the oldest in the whole of France. Back then the city's "Klausenmärik", otherwise known as St. Nicholas Market, was a time to offer gifts to children to celebrate Saint Nicholas, but today it is much more than just this. From November 23rd to December 30th, the whole city is centered around Strasbourg's Christmas market and its numerous events. And no Christmas is complete without a Christmas tree, and Strasbourg's is 30 meters tall, making it the largest real Christmas tree in the whole of Europe. That's not all, Strasbourg's Christmas market is a whole village decorated in lights, with Christmas music, wooden chalets, gingerbread scents and warm mulled wine. There's really no better place to get you in the mood!

Strasbourg

A special message from MSN:

While Christmas is a time of joy for most of us, that's not the case for the UK's most vulnerable children and young people. We've partnered with giving platform Benevity to raise funds for two charities - the NSPCC and The Children's Society – to try to help change that. You can help make a difference - please donate now.
