Looking for a staycation retreat with a twist? Why not head to Powys in Wales for a stay at this hidden, cosy countryside nook.

Sitting pretty in the heart of the Welsh countryside is The Burrow - a lesser-known retreat like no other. From the outside, it has a rabbit's burrow feel to it (much like the name suggests), with a grassy roof top, small windows and ridiculously pretty views.

But guests stopping by for a staycation will be pleased to know that it feels smart, clean, modern and incredibly contemporary everywhere you turn.

Inside, you'll find an impressive velvet green Chaise sofa, a wooden log burner, freestanding copper bath, wooden dining table, large hot tub, stylish master bedroom and a kid-friendly bunk bed. From artwork to home accessories, the property boasts plenty of character.

Plus, badgers, foxes and deer offer animal lovers the chance to spot their favourites - even from the bathroom window. The owner of The Burrow, Tom Jones, suggests heading down to the pond after breakfast for a glimpse of the elusive otters.

"You can cosy up next to the fire pit long into the night, or spend hours soaking in your own private hot tub. Or, why not go for a stroll down to the stream and enjoy your lunch on the picnic bench," explains the website.

Other local activities to immerse yourself in include breathtaking walks, outdoor trails, picnic spots and a quaint village area with shops and lovely restaurants. The only problem with a place as beautiful as this is that you'll never want to leave.
