Downing St barriers covered in scrubs as anti-vaccine protesters throw NHS uniforms at police
Security barriers outside Downing Street in London started to look more like a laundry on Saturday 22 January, as protesters hurled medical scrubs at police. Protesters have rallied in central London against a requirement that workers in the UK's National Health Service (NHS) be vaccinated by April or face the sack. The need for a delay between jabs mean the process of firing what could be more than 70,000 as-yet unvaccinated staff could begin on 3 February. As well as NHS staff and people concerned about civil liberties, the crowd also included a number of so-called anti-vaxxers.
