These images show a stunning sunrise across Greater Manchester this morning.

Many commuters making their way to work have shared images of pink skies across the region.

Some of the images show the buildings of Media City illuminated by bright clouds, as well as skyscrapers in the city centre alongside clear skies.

Photographs have also been snapped on Deansgate, Cheetham Hill and Longsight.

However, it appears to be the calm before the storm with a weather alert issued for this weekend.

Storm Dennis is expected to bring strong winds from Saturday morning.

The yellow weather alert is in place from 10am until midnight tomorrow.

Downpours are expected to accompany the blustery wind.

Forecasters are warning there could be disruption to the transport, while flights could be cancelled.

There could also be some short term power loss in some areas.

A statement from the Met Office said: "Strong winds in association with Storm Dennis are expected on Saturday and Sunday across many parts of England and Wales.

"The strongest winds are likely to be on Saturday afternoon and evening, with a lull overnight, before increasing again during Sunday.

"Gusts of 50 mph are expected inland. Around the coasts, especially in the west and south, gusts of 60-70 mph are likely.

"The strong winds will be accompanied by heavy rain at times, leading to particularly poor driving conditions."
