Residents baffled after sea turns reddish brown in Philippines
Residents were baffled after coastal water turned reddish brown with a foul odour near their homes in the Philippines. Footage shows the revolting scene in Ozamis City, Misamis Occidental province, on February 21. The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) in Misamis Occidental are now investigating the unusual change of sea colour to reddish-brown. Water samples have been taken for laboratory analysis. Resident Weeda Wheng Callora said: ‘This is the first time this has happened in our area and it is really scary. Besides there is no factory nearby.’
