The Shape Of You hitmaker has announced a number of special 'opening parties' in music shops across Ireland.

Eager fans can go to Tower Records in Dublin, Music Zone in Cork or OMG@Zhivago in Galway on midnight on Thursday, March 2 to buy the new album ÷ ahead of its official release on Friday.

And for those who missed out on getting tickets to the 26-year-old's 3Arena shows, there's an added incentive.

All those who attend will be in with the chance of winning a pair of tickets to his Dublin shows in April.

Sheeran recently returned to the spotlight after a year-long hiatus and has enjoyed a hugely successful comeback.

He has even broken a chart record thanks to two of his singles - Shape Of You and Castle On The Hill - sitting at number one and number two on the singles chart for five consecutive weeks.

This comes as the singer dropped third single How Would You Feel (Paean) today as a birthday gift to fans, after he turned 26.
