a man sitting in a room © Provided by Digital Spy EastEnders is lining up a brand new feud for Max Branning when he returns, as he'll be going head-to-head with Phil Mitchell again.

We've already revealed how Max (Jake Wood) will be returning to Walford next week, having been off screen since Abi's funeral back in February.

But as expected, his comeback will be far from straightforward, and it looks like he'll be diving headfirst into more drama.

The Mirror reports that Max will announce he's the proud new owner of the car lot – immediately putting him back into battle with Phil (Steve McFadden).

So it will come as no surprise that Phil is furious by the latest developments regarding Max and will be doing all he can to jeopardise things for him.

Of course, Phil isn't the only one unhappy to see Max laying down roots in the Square – as the rest of the residents are far from pleased to see him back too.

With so much animosity towards him, fans will have to wait and see whether Max can build bridges and turn his life around. But it's certainly looking like it won't be an easy ride...

EastEnders continues tonight (April 16) at 8pm on BBC One.
