It seems tougher and tougher to come up with a truly unique and not cringe-worthy baby name nowadays—thanks to names like Silas Randall Timberlake and Zahara Marley. But one dad managed to come up with a pretty clever pick for his daughter, even though his wife didn't find out about its true meaning until two years later.

Clare Smith, an Australian mom, wrote to a magazine saying she and her husband chose her daughter's name Lanersa because it was "unique and romantic."

What she didn't know was that her husband chose the name because it was his favourite soccer team, Arsenal, spelled backwards.

How the unnamed husband was able to keep it a secret for two years, we have no idea. But the secret's definitely out now. The photo clip of the article has more than two million views on Reddit and continues to give soccer fans and expecting parents some laughs.

This isn't the first time parents gave their kids names inspired by their soccer obsession. Last year, musician Mike Bloomfield named his son Bermondsey Millwall Den after Millwall's location, name and stadium. But ... he didn't tell his wife.

Recently, Olympian runner Mo Farah admitted he wanted to give his son the middle name of Arsenal. "But Tania (his wife) wasn't having it," Farah told Hello magazine.

Maybe one of the craziest names we've heard was when two Burnley supporters named their son after the entire first team: Jensen Jay Alexander Bikey Carlisle Duff Elliot Fox Iwelumo Marney Mears Paterson Thompson Wallace Preston.

Now that's a mouthful.
