Famous faces step out in style for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards 2017 14/11/2017 Hannah Moran

A host of famous face attended the lavish event, held in Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, which honours women who have made a lasting impact on society in the past year.

Hosted by actor Billy Eichner, the likes of Nicole Kidman and Gigi Hadid were honoured on the night.

‘The Changemaker’ award went to Patty Jenkins, the director of this year’s blockbuster superhero flick – Wonder Woman.

The two female New York Times journalists, Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohy, who broke the story on the sexual assault accusations scandal about Harvey Weinstein were awarded for their work.

Laverne Cox © Provided by Associated Press Laverne Cox Speaking out about the story on stage, they brought up four women, Anita Hill, Ann Cardenas, Aly Raisman, and Cameron Russell, each of whom had come forward to report being sexually harassed.

Orange Is The New Black actress Laverne Cox was awarded a ‘First’ award for being the first transgender woman to be nominated for a primetime Emmy for her role in the series.

Supermodel of the moment Gigi Hadid accepted the ‘Supernova’ award for her rise to prominence in the fashion and beauty industries.

Maxine Waters was the recipient of the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for her 30 years of public service in the US Congress.

Ashley Graham © Provided by Associated Press Ashley Graham Solange Knowles was also rewarded on the night with the ‘Artist’s award’ for her latest album and her activism work.

Also commended on the night were ‘The Revolutionaries’ in the US who organised the Women’s Marches earlier this year.
