ON FIRST GLANCE, you might assume San Michelle is located in the sprawling countryside, far from the nearest village or town. But, in reality, this five bedroom, seven bathroom home sits in Kinsealy, Co Dublin, just five minutes from the airport and close to Portmarnock beach.

The glamourous mansion is certainly not out of place in the area, however. A short drive will bring you to the gates of Abbeville, the James Gandon designed house that was the opulent residence of former taoiseach, Charles Haughey.

San Michelle, which was built twenty years ago, is now on the market for €1.5m.

The interior of San Michelle is equally as commanding as the exterior. Upon entering, a curved double staircase leads to the home’s upper level, while a central light fitting in line with the front door supports the symmetry of the space.

Light is bounced around thanks to the crisp white walls and marble tiles.

From the hallway, double glass panelled doors lead to the kitchen. Designed by Monaghan based craftsman, John Daly, the bespoke space isn’t just for show. A granite topped island creates the perfect working triangle, while a combination of shelving, cabinets and cupboards provide plenty of storage options.

The kitchen even has two dishwashers – the dream for many busy households. An integrated wine rack in the island and a large bay window overlooking the front gardens proves that this is a space made for entertaining guests.

The two reception rooms feature solid cherry wood floors, marble fireplaces, recessed lighting and more bespoke wall mounted shelving, also designed by John Daly.

A bar in one of the reception rooms adds even more luxury to the pot.

In the study, rich cherry wood wall-to-floor mounted storage and a desk create an attractive library and work setup that’s sure to contribute to productivity.

Upstairs, the floors are covered in solid oak throughout. Many of the bedrooms have fitted wardrobes and storage, again expertly designed and bespoke.

While all bedrooms enjoy en suite bathrooms and built-in wardrobes, two have the added luxury of walk-in wardrobes and a whole host of other built-in features, like vanity units, mirrors and cabinets.

A Jacuzzi bath tub, pristine tiles for easy cleaning and double vanity units create a spa-like escape in one of the seven bathrooms dotted throughout San Michelle.

And, as if the storage within wasn’t enough, the stone-clad detached garage and boiler house provide even more space.

The grounds surrounding the house exude grandeur and expert garden design. Upon entering through the electric gate, you’re met with mature landscaping that sits alongside two driveways and a water fountain.

Outdoor lighting, plenty of parking and Liscannor stone patios to the side and back of the home makes taking social gatherings outside, simple.

San Michelle’s close proximity to the airport certainly makes it an attractive option for seasoned flyers, but so too does the drivetime of half an hour to Dublin’s city centre.
