MOTORISTS TRAVELLING OUT of Dublin on the Naas Road have been asked to use alternative routes.

Gardaí have closed the road past junction 2 at Kingswood following a “serious collision”. They and emergency services continue to deal with the incident.

It is not known how many vehicles were involved or if there were any injuries.

Traffic is being asked to take alternative routes on the road.

Motorists outbound can go through Tallaght and Saggart, then rejoin the road at Rathcoole. Traffic travelling outbound on the N7 Naas Road is being asked to take the M50 to Tallaght (J11) or Lucan (J7) and not to take Red Cow exit.

From Tallaght (N81) traffic can continue to Saggart and rejoin at Rathcoole. From Lucan (N4) traffic can exit at J4 and go through Newcastle and rejoin at Rathcoole.

Traffic continuing on the N7 from The Red Cow is being diverted at Newlands Cross where there are tailbacks due to the volume of traffic taking this route.

It is not known how long the road will be closed for.
