A man has died following an early morning fire in Dublin this morning, which left two others injured.

Emergency services attended the scene of the fire which broke out on Grove Park, Rathmines,Dublin this morning at approximately 7am. ©

Dublin Fire Brigade confirmed eight of their units and three ambulances attended the blaze.

The period house is split into flats and the fire broke out in the middle floor. ©

Three people in total were taken to St James' Hospital from the scene and one man was subsequently pronounced dead.

The age or nationality of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.

It is also understood one of those injured suffered serious burns to their arms and hands.

Another man told how he had to jump from an upstairs window to escape the flames. ©

"The fire alarm went off at around 7am and I heard that, and when I looked out the door the building was full of smoke," said Gundars Lazdins (25).

"I could not go down the stairs, then I started hearing bangs and explosions, and I said to myself 'I have to get out', so I wet a towel and put it over my head and jumped out the window onto an extension below me. There was no other way," he added. ©

Gardai have cordoned off the scene. Details of any injuries are uncertain, but a number of people are believed to suffered smoke inhalation.

Emergency services said everyone has been accounted for at the scene and the fire has been extinguished.

Grove Park was closed to traffic, but since reopened shortly before 9am.
