David Alden has been fired from The Apprentice and become the second casualty of the boardroom.

The 32-year-old businessman from Hull, who is a DJ by night, failed to impress Lord Sugar during this week's comic book task.

After losing the task, the boys turned on David as they slammed the accountant for highlighting the negative parts of their pitch.

But David, who writes fiction as a hobby, blamed project manager Frank Brooks for the loss because he chose a bad theme.

Lord Sugar blasted Frank for being a "diabolical" project manager, before adding: "If you open your mouth again you're going to be out that door."

But he turned his attention to David and slammed his "absolutely garbage" story.

The business mogul said: "David you go into a pitch to read out the negative parts of your product. You’ve got no business acumen. And for that reason David you are fired."

However, it looked like their could be a shock second firing as Lord Sugar attacked again.

"His story was no good but your leadership was also no good," he said.

Lord Sugar told him to "stop nodding your head" but Frank started begging, whispering "no please".

The big boss said: "I’m trying to think if i will waste anymore time allowing you in this process."

Although he did let Frank walk back into the house.

He said: ""You sign up to this thing to win it. I was absolutely gutted to be leaving so early. Not just that I’m gutted because personally I didn't think I should have gone.

"You try and prepare yourself when you sign up for this as to what to expect, as a fan of the show you know there will be pressure and it will be intense in that boardroom. When you're in there it's a whole different kettle of fish.

"When you get into the boardroom and find you’re not he losing team that's when the knives come out and when everyone's mentality changes. I’m not a fan of this blame culture."
