McGregor is set to take on the Russian next month, in what will be his first fight in the UFC for almost two years and Nurmagomedov’s maiden title defence.

Despite the excitement building ahead of the clash, many have been speculating over the 30-year-old’s future, suggesting that McGregor may call time on his career inside the Octagon even if he comes out on top against his rival.

However, coach Roddy has recently revealed that he expects the Irishman to remain in the UFC whatever the result in Las Vegas and has admitted McGregor’s mentality hasn’t changed.

“I don’t know – I don’t think [he will retire], I don’t look into the future to see what’s happening. Conor’s mentality hasn’t changed at all, so I don’t know.”

“I always say, it depends on what fights are available, I think, for Conor.”

“As I said, if there is another big super fight and Conor feels like he would enjoy it, then he’ll do it.”

“If the fans want it and stuff like that, I think Conor will take it.”

The main event at UFC 229 is expected to smash the pay-per-view record with over two million sales.
