Honda has launched the X-Blade in India at Rs 78,500 (ex-showroom). Positioned between the CB Unicorn 160 and the CB Hornet 160R, the X-Blade goes up against the Suzuki Gixxer, Yamaha FZ and the upcoming TVS Apache RTR 160.

Although it is based on the same platform as the Hornet, the X-Blade gets an aggressive design and sporty decals to attract the youth. It even gets an LED headlamp and tail lamp to make it stand out in a crowd. The fuel tank gets shrouds to give it a muscular look, the exhaust end-can gets dual outlets, while the instrument console also gets a new design and an additional feature – a gear indicator.

At the heart of the X-Blade is the same 162cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine, delivering 13.9bhp and 13.9Nm of torque. It is mated to a five-speed gearbox. To keep costs in check, Honda has gone for a drum brake at the rear instead of a disc brake. It doesn’t get combi braking system either. Suspension setup consists of telescopic front forks and a rear monoshock.

Honda is also offering a slew of optional accessories for the X-Blade for those who wish to give the bike a personal touch. The X-Blade is available in five paint schemes – blue, silver, red, black and green.
