2017 Skoda Octavia launched in India at a starting price of Rs 15.49 lakh

Skoda has launched the Octavia facelift in the country at Rs 15.49 lakh, ex-showroom that gets updated exterior and interior. The new Skoda Octavia is available in three variants, namely; Ambition, Style and the Style Plus.

The new Octavia competes with the likes of the Toyota Corolla Altis, Volkswagen Jetta and the Hyundai Elantra.

At the exterior, the Octavia facelift has received larger air intakes, LED quad-headlamp setup with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps), while the rear ends get updates in the form of a new bumper, LED tail lamps and 17-inch alloy wheels. The cabin too has been equipped with improved features that consist of an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and MirrorLink support.

The interior also gets a piano black finish at the centre console, a 3-spoke steering wheel with audio and cruise control buttons. Skoda has equipped the car with the same panoramic sunroof and cooled glovebox along with Auto Park feature and ambient lighting system.

The 2017 Skoda Octavia is equipped with many safety features. The premium sedan has received eight airbags, ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) and brake assist. Skoda has also offered the new Octavia with other driver aids that include driver fatigue detection system, rear view camera and Hill Assist.

The new Skoda Octavia facelift is powered by the same engine options that powered the previous model. Under the hood, the petrol variants get a 1.4 litre TSI with 148 hp of power and 250 Nm of torque and is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. It also gets a 1.8 litre TSI petrol engine that develops 180 hp of power and is mated to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. A 2.0 litre TDI diesel unit produces 140 hp of power and 320 Nm of torque and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
