BMW K 1600 GTL launched in India at Rs 25.90 lakh

BMW Motorrad has launched their most expensive offering for the Indian buyers – the K 1600 GTL. The K 1600 GTL is available in two versions – standard priced at Rs 25.90 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and Pro at Rs 28.50 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

The K 1600 GTL has been developed to take care of the long distance needs like comfort, performance and luxury. The 2016 version of the K 1600 GTL, which will be sold in India, gets new side trim panels, larger slipstream deflectors, new wind hand deflectors, redesigned mirrors with larger faces and redesigned foot guards. The storage compartments have been lowered too, for ease of access. 

BMW is known to out equip their motorcycles and with the K 1600 GTL, it is no different. The bike gets ABS Pro, xenon headlight, heated grips and seats as standard. It also gets Reverse Assist, which is controlled via a button on the left handlebar. It also sports Shift Assistant Pro, which allows clutchless upshifts and downshifts. Other options include the adaptive headlight, keyless ride, Hill Hold Control, central locks and forged wheels. 

The 1650cc motor produces 160bhp at 7750rpm and maximum torque of 175Nm at 5250rpm. The mill is mated to a six-speed gearbox which transfers power to the rear wheel via a shaft drive. The bike tips the scale at 350kg and has the fuel tank capacity of 26.5-litres. 

BMW will soon begin the bookings of the K 1600 GTL in the next few days. The company is currently in the processing of setting up dealerships, first one will come up in Mumbai on April 12, followed by one in Pune two days later.
