Tata Tigor launched: Top 5 highlights

The new Tata Tigor has been launched in the country with a fresh set of cosmetic and feature upgrades. Mechanically, the vehicle continues to be powered by existing petrol and diesel engine options. The Tigor's fresh set of updates come a year-and-a-half after it was first launched. Here below are the top five highlights for the Tata Tigor.

Tata Tigor is now available with a new grille, newly designed alloy wheels and new tail lamps which get crystal design elements. The top spec variant is offered with dual chamber projector headlamps with chrome finish, alloy wheels, chrome on the waistline and chrome-ringed fog lights. This time around, the vehicle also gets piano black shark fin antennae and LED high mounted stop lamp.

Tata has updated the touchscreen system and the Tigor now gets a seven-inch infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay compatibility. Depending on the variant, the vehicle gets different combinations for the AC vent surround and fascia bezel. The top-spec petrol variant gets titanium colour faux leather seats.


In terms of safety, all variants of the new Tigor now get dual front airbags while ABS with EBD and stability control is offered on the XZ and XZ+ variants. Additionally, the vehicle is also offered with features like speed sensitive door locks, central lock with auto-lock and driver seat belt reminder features.


The new Tigor continues to be powered by existing engine options. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder Revotron petrol engine generates 84bhp/114Nm of torque while the oil-burner gets a 1.05-litre three-cylinder turbocharged motor that generates 69bhp/140Nm of torque. Both the engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox while the petrol engine can also be had with a five-speed AMT (automated manual transmission).     

Price and competition

Tata Tigor is available at a starting price of Rs 5.20 lakhs and goes all the way up to Rs 7.38 lakhs for the top spec diesel. The coupe-styled sedan competes against the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Dzire and the Hyundai Grand i10. It also competes against the mid-level versions of the Honda Amaze, Hyundai Xcent, Ford Aspire and the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
