Kia Motors has an aggressive plan outlined for India and that includes a slew of cherry picked products and a mix of made for India products. The first product would be the SP concept production version. The concept was shown at the Auto Expo and with the plant being expected to be operational by mid next year, the launch would be around festive season for the production version of the SP concept for which also Kia sought help of the public to fix a name.

However other than that Kia plans many new cars with a promise of launching one new car every six months after the launch thus it will have a robust product portfolio by 2 years with a strong aim of breaking into the top 5 car makers in India. Kia Motors already has plans to have the biggest dealer network for a new player and will ramp up its dealership touch points as aggressively as its launch plan.

So while the first launch is the SP then we could see more SUVs like a made for India compact SUV below 4m along with a bigger SUV being introduced via CKD route like the Sportage or even the Stonic. Also expect the Carnival MPV to be a premium MPV segment contender while we can expect hatchbacks like the Ceed and Rio. The Ceed would be a first for a premium and stylish hatch being above 4m plus starting a new segment. So there you go starting next year Kia is coming all guns blazing.
